This HW Set is given for Matlab and manual solutions. Use the following unit systems in analysis:

Q1) Solve the below given problem by modifying the MATLAB program given in class and by hand. The truss members have the cross-sectional area of 8 cm2 and made of steel having the elasticity modulus of E=200GPa. Find the nodal deflections, element stresses and reaction. Note that the system is hyperstatic.

Q2) Solve the below given problem by modifying the MATLAB program given in class and by hand. The truss members have the cross-sectional area of 8 in2 and made of wood having the elasticity modulus of E=1.90x104 lb/in2. Find the nodal deflections, element stresses and reaction forces. Note that the system is hyperstatic.

Q3) Solve the below given problem by modifying the MATLAB program given in class and by hand.
During the assembly of the system, the spring has its free length but the mid point of the beam is
deflected w=3mm upward. What is the final deflection of the beam ? The beam has the width of 8
mm, height of 2mm, k=100N/mm, L=1m, and E=210Gpa. Note that the system is hyperstatic but FEM
can solve hyperstatic systems.
